Men’s Soccer Denied in SJC Invitational Opener

Patchogue, NY| Despite outshooting the opposition 12-9, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team was shutout, 1-0, by Manhattanville College in the opening contest of the 2018 SJC Invitational Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 0-3 on the year as the Valiants improve to 2-1.

SJC posted seven shots to Manhattanville's four in the first half but entered the break down 1-0. Pablo Bravo Olle finished off Cody Lacava's right-sided cross in the box in the 18th minute for the match's only tally.

Though St. Joseph's recorded more shots, the Valiants held the edge in corners, having generated seven the Golden Eagles' three.

SJC's Damian Duda led all players with a game-high five shots.

In the afternoon's second match, St. Joseph's College (Brkln) cruised past York College and picked up a 5-1 victory.

On Sunday, Manhattanville will face St. Joseph's (Brkln) at 12:00 pm before the Golden Eagles match-up against York in the tournament finale at 3:00 pm.
