Women's Basketball Falls to Farmingdale In Skyline Conference Tilt

Farmingdale, NY | The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team was defeated by Farmingdale St., 70-28, in a Skyline Conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Golden Eagles slip to 5-12 (4-7 Skyline) while the Rams improve to 8-7 (6-3 Skyline).  

In a match that saw zero lead changes, Farmingdale started the game with a 6-0 run before back-to-back baskets by Michelle Lupoli and Juliana Mellor closed SJC's gap to two (6-4) with 5:48 on the clock. The Rams sparked a 10-0 run into the 2:27 mark to take a 12-point lead (16-4), before closing out the frame with a 17-9 advantage. 

AJ Smith began the second with a made layup that spearheaded an 11-1 run into the 3:41 mark to give the Rams a 28-10 lead.  The two sides then exchanged baskets before Farmingdale headed into break with a 20-point lead.

Farmingdale came out the gates with the hot hand in the third taking another 10-2 run to the midway point of the third for the 28-point lead (43-15). Alicia Indence iced the run with a made three-pointer but the Rams answered back with three consecutive baskets from behind the arc, before exiting the third with a commanding 33-point lead (54-21).

Down 57-28 halfway through the final quarter, Tyra Harrison's three-pointer surged a 10-point run until the final seconds of the game to down the Golden Eagles 70-28.

Indence led the in scoring with nine points in addition to adding four rebounds. Mellor tallied eight points and collected four rebounds.

The Golden Eagles shot just 16.1% from the field compared to the Rams' 36.5%. The Rams also held advantages in rebounds (57-47) and assists (19-5).
