VIDEO: 2017 Women’s Lacrosse Season Preview

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team will begin its 2017 campaign on the road against the Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday February 28th at 12:00 PM.

Despite losing a plethora of starters, five of which were named to the Skyline All-Conference Teams including Skyline Co-Offensive Player of the Year Heather Ferchland, head coach Bob Vlahakis will be task to lead 11 new players in addition to his eight returners.

The 11 new players include transfer students Chelsea Tarazona, Emily Fey, and Brooke Kreuscher.
Tarazoa, a transfer from Suffolk Community College, played in nine games for the Sharks and was forth on the team in points (12) scoring eight goals and assisting in four.

Adding depth to the midfield will be Fey who joins the team after a two-year stint at Caldwell College. The Center Moriches, NY native won 33 draw controls and tallied 58 points (51 goals, seven assists) in her 28 games played.

Kreuscher, who was an ECC All-Conference First-Team and an IWCLA DII All-Region Third Team Selection at Dowling College, will join the Golden Eagles for her senior campaign. The Bayport, NY native was second on the team in points (75) and goals (46) for the Golden Lions a season ago.

On Tuesday morning the Skyline Conference released the results of its Preseason Coaches Poll which saw the Golden Eagles finish first for the second-consecutive year after a second undefeated conference campaign, and defeating Farmingdale State in the conference championship for the second-straight season last May.
