Kreuscher Leads Women's Lacrosse Past Purchase, 18-11 on Saturday Afternoon

Patchogue, NY| Brooke Kreuscher collected seven points to lift the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team past Purchase College, 18-11, in a Skyline Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Golden Eagles move to 2-8 (1-1 Skyline) on the year while the Panthers slide to 1-3 (0-2 Skyline).

Nicole Stoppelli and Kreuscher scored the game's first two goals at 28:52 and 27:53 before Purchase got one back for the hosts at 21:24. Ally Johnston scored her second goal of the season to increase SJC's lead by two, but the Panthers answered back to close the gap within one (3-2). Back-to-back goals by Emily Fey and Alexis Hillman put SJC ahead 5-2, and Purchase's Emma Porter fired a ball in the back of the cage to make the game 5-3. The two teams would trade a goal each, as Tricia Barrett her sixth goal of the season to send SJC into break with a three-goal lead (7-4).
The Golden Eagles scored four-straight goals to start the second half off the sticks of Kreuscher, Hillman (2), and Kristin Carroll to build a 12-4 lead.

Purchase's Zoe Hines and SJC's Carroll each marked a tally before the Panthers netted back-to-back goals to shorten their lead to by six (13-7). A pair of goals by the Golden Eagles courtesy of Stoppelli and Barrett gave them their biggest lead of the contest (15-7). A trio of goals from Purchase brought the game back to five, but a pair of Golden Eagle goals increased their lead to 17-10.  The two teams traded goals once more in the final minute of action to clinch the 18-11 victory.

Kreuscher tallied four goals in the contest and recorded three assists to bring her point total to seven in the game. Additionally, both Caroll and Hillman netted three goals and Stoppelli added four points (2 g, 2 a) on the afternoon.

The Golden Eagles continue conference play when they hosts cross-town rivals SUNY Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference showdown on Wednesday, April 5 at 5:15 PM.  Live stats will be available here.
