Women's Soccer Opens Skyline Play with Win over Yeshiva

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team opened up Skyline Conference play with an 11-0 win over Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon.

  • Freshman Alyssa Schimmenti scored a pair of goals, her first as a Golden Eagle
  • Senior Kayleigh Milton finished with two goals and an assist
  • Senior keeper Madelyn Hunter recorded a shutout turning away the only shot she faced
  • Yeshiva's keeper Daniella Bessler finished with 13 saves

How it happened

  • The Golden Eagles scored early and often with Schimmenti's first goal of the day coming in the third minute of play
  • St. Joseph's went on to score four more times in the first half to carry a 5-0 lead into the break
  • Milton opened up the second half with back-to-back goals before four additional Golden Eagles scored for the 11-0 win

Notes

  • This is the first victory of the season for the Golden Eagles
  • The home team outshot the Maccabees 33-2 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks
