The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team fell short in a 5-1 Skyline Conference contest on Wednesday.

Top performers
  • St. Joseph's lone goal of the afternoon came off the foot of sophomore midfielder Emma Fuery

  • Mt. St. Vincent got a two-goal performance from Emily McCarthy

  • Kailey Conner, Victoria Gamarra and Lilli Marin all scored for the Dolphins

How it happened
  • CMSV struck early when Gamarra found the lower left corner in the 10th minute of play

  • The Golden Eagles held the hosts scoreless for the rest of the half, but the Dolphins doubles its lead courtesy of Conner in the opening minutes of the second frame

  • SJLI cut the deficit in half when Furey's shot to the upper left corner sailed by CMSV's keeper in the 70th minute

  • Minutes later Mt. St. Vincent regained a two-goal lead when Marin found the back of the net 

  • McCarthy then went on to put the game out of reach for the Golden Eagles with back-to-back goals down the stretch securing the 5-1 win

Notes
  • The Golden Eagles were limited to just five shots with three on goal

  • SJLI keeper Gloria Arango finished with eight saves on the day
