Women’s Swimming Wraps Season with Win over SJC-Brooklyn

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team wrapped up its 2017-18 season with an 86-78 victory over conference opponent St. Joseph's College (Brkln) inside the Danzi Center Pool on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Aileen Baker picked up the Golden Eagles' first first-place finish of the meet when she posted a time of 2:22.65 in the 200 yard freestyle.

Sophomore Samantha Mullman placed first in the very next event, the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 27.41. The Massapequa, NY native broke the program record in the same event two days earlier at the Skyline Conference Championships.

Senior Julie Garvey, also participating in the 50 yard freestyle, recorded a season-best time of 30.62.

Baker and Mullman picked up their second first-place finishes in the 100 yard backstroke (1:15.95) and the 500 yard freestyle (6:08.79), respectively, later on in the meet. Mullman's 500 yard time was less than one second off of Baker's season-high time in the event.

In the meet's finale, Baker, Mullman, senior Julie Garvey and junior Catherine Peralta posted a time of 1:57.16 and pulled in a first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay to clinch a narrow victory.
