Women’s Tennis Drops Season Opener to Manhattanville

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team dropped a Skyline Conference contest, 5-4, to Manhattanville College on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Eagles drop their season opener at home as the Valiants improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Skyline action. 

The Valiants took both first and second doubles by 8-1 and 8-7 scorelines, respectively. SJC's only doubles win came by default at third doubles. Freshmen Kiara Groce and Diana Dominique were awarded the victory.

Groce and Dominique were handed two more default wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Sophomore Haley Celona defeated Kelsey Ulzheimer, 6-3, 6-3, at third singles.

In the decisive fourth singles match, junior Trinity Behlen fell to Ella Brown, 7-5, 4-6 (6-10).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 25, when they visit Sarah Lawrence for a Skyline Conference contest.
