Women’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Contest to Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team suffered a 5-4 non-conference defeat to Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 1-4 overall on the year as the Bulldogs improve to 1-6.

Despite winning first and third doubles, by scores of 8-1 and 8-3, respectively, SJC dropped all but two singles matches.

Jessica Jones was an 8-1 winner at second singles and Angela Avecillas Martinez secured an 8-2 victory at fourth singles. 

Haley Celona, Trinity Behlen, and Angelina DeMonte were defeated narrowly at third, fifth, and sixth singles, respectively.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday, October 7, at 7:00 pm when they face Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference contest at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
