Women's Tennis Secures 6-3 Win over Yeshiva

Flushing, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team defeated Yeshiva University, 6-3, in a Skyline Conference contest at the USTA National Tennis Center on Thursday evening.

The win moves the Golden Eagles to 2-4 overall on the year and 2-2 in Skyline play as the Maccabees slip to 0-3 (0-3).

SJC won two of three doubles matches via Trinity Behlen and Madison DiPalo (8-6) at second doubles and Haley Celona and Angelina DeMonte (8-1) at third doubles. 

Jessica Jones was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at second singles, and Celona secured a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory at third singles. 

Angela Avecillas Martinez took fourth singles, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3), and Behlen was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at fifth singles.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 9, when they host Purchase for a Skyline Conference contest at 12:00 pm.
