Cross Country Takes Second-Place Finishes at Friends and Alumni Meet

Sayville, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams both finished second in their respective races at the 5th Annual Friends and Alumni Meet at Broadway Ave. Park in Sayville, NY on Friday evening.

The SJC women were led by junior Meagan Haviland, who placed fourth with a 4k time of 16:36.5. Senior Karli Murphy (16:56.9) and sophomore Sandra Vivar Marin (18:08.9) took seventh and 13th, respectively, and freshman Emily Venturi (18:24.8) and Julia Boris (18:34.9) rounded out the SJC scoring contingent in 15th and 16th .

The St. Joseph's women's alumni team finished in third place and was powered by Brittany Guttieri, who placed second with a time of 16:07.2.

On the men's side, freshman Ryan Wilson was a seventh-place finisher with a 6k time of 21:28.3. Freshman Matt Lopez (22:11.1) and sophomore Dennis O'Rourke (22:26.3) took 12th and 14th while senior Nick DeLuca (22:38.6) and freshman Patrick Wuss finished in 16th and 19th, respectively.

Mike Lombardi of the SJC alumni team took second place with a time of 20:42.5.

Both USMMA teams took first place in both the women's and men's races. 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 14 when they participate at the NYIT Invitational at 10:00 am.
