Women Take 6th, Men 7th at NYIT XC Invitational

Old Westbury, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams participated in the NYIT Invitational on Saturday afternoon and finished in sixth and eventh places, respectively.

The men collected 217 points and were the second-highest placing Division III team behind Skyline Conference rival USMMA (109). 

Freshmen Ryan Wilson (24:55.28) and Matt Lopez (24:56.09) led SJC in the men's 8k race with 38th and 39th-place finishes. Sophomore Dennis O'Rourke (25:.05.99) took 42nd and senior Nick DeLuca was 54th with a time of 25:58.65. 

The women totaled 183 points and were also the second-highest placing Division III team in their race. USMMA's women finished third with 87 points.

The women were powered by junior Meagan Haviland, who finished in 12th place with a time of 21:08.6. Sophomore Sandra Vivar Marin (22:39.52) took 43rd, senior Karlie Murphy (22:48.23) finished in 46th place and sophomore Julia Boris (22:58.19) was a 50th-place finisher.  

Division I Seton Hall was both the men's and women's races with 42 and 21 points, respectively. 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 21 when they participate in the Bard Invitational in Annandale, NY at 11:00 am.
