Women and Men’s Cross Country Finish 5th at Bard Invite

Annandale-On-Hudson, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams both finished fifth in their respective races at the Bard Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The women collected 198 points and were the highest-placing Skyline Conference team in the women's 6k race. Vassar finished first with 28 points.

Junior Meagan Haviland posted a time of 25:16.1 and finished in 18th place--the best finish among Skyline runners. Senior Karli Murphy (27:14.0) placed 44th and sophomore Sandra Vivar-Marin (27:26.0) and senior Jennifer O'Connor (28:06.6) took 48th and 56th, respectively. 

The SJC men posted a team score of 171 and were bested in the conference only by Manhattanville, which finished fourth with 160 points. RPI finished first with 29 points. 

Freshman Ryan Wilson powered the men's team with an 8k time of 27:39.4 and a 21st-place finish. The rookie was the second-highest placing Skyline runner in the men's race.

Sophomore Dennis O'Rourke (28:21.7) and freshman Matt Lopez (28:25.2) took 40th and 41st places, respectively, and freshman Patrick Wuss (29:40.7) crossed the finish line in 63rd place. 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 5 when they participate in the NJIT Invitational at Branch Brook Park (Newark, NJ).
