Men's Cross Country Finishes 2nd, Women 3rd at Skyline Championships

Milton, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's cross country teams placed second and third, respectively, in fields of 12 at the 2019 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships at Hudson Valley Sports Dome on Thursday afternoon.

The women were led by junior Meagan Haviland (26:32.2), who finished in fourth place and earned her third-straight Skyline All-Conference First-Team selection. Senior Karli Murphy (27:54.3) placed in 13th place and appeared on the Skyline All-Conference Second-Team for the first time in her career.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy totaled 24 points and won the women's event 6k event. Farmingdale placed second (76) and SJC collected 78 points.

On the men's side, freshman Ryan Wilson (29:02.8) finished sixth in the men's 8k and was named Skyline Rookie of the Year in addition to landing on the Skyline All-Conference First-Team.

Joining Wilson on the First-Team was fellow freshman Matt Lopez (29:12.4) while sophomore Dennis O'Rourke (29:31.7) appeared on the Second-Team following an 11th-place finish.

USMMA's men scored 29 points and claimed the title. Manhattanville (86) trailed SJC (68) in third place.

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday, November 9 when they return to the Hudson Valley Sports Dome for the ECAC Championships.
