Men Finish Third, Women Fifth at Adelphi Invitational

Bethpage, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's cross country teams posted third- and fifth-place finishes, respectively, at the Adelphi University Invitational at Bethpage State Park on Friday afternoon.

The men were powered by freshman Ryan Wilson, who was the second-highest placing Skyline runner in the men's 8k race with a 13th-place finish (27:37.3) bested only by reigning conference champion Joshua Green of Farmingdale. 

Sophomore Dennis O'Rourke took 21st place (28:14.7) and freshman Matt Lopez crossed the line in 25th place (28:48.5). The men were the best-placing D-III team in the race and were topped only by D-II Southern Connecticut and Adelphi.

Junior Meagan Haviland was the best D-III runner in the women's 5k race with a 12th-place finish and a time of 20:35.4. Senior Karli Murphy (21:13.1) and sophomore Sandra Vivar Marin (22:13.4) finished in 20th and 33rd places, respectively. 

SJC's fifth-place finish was the second-best among D-III teams. Skyline rival Farmingdale took fourth.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 14 when they participate at the NYIT Invitational at 10:00 am.
