Cross Country Begins 2023 Season at Adelphi Invitational

September 1, 2023 – Bethpage State Park (Bethpage, NY)
The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams opened the 2023 season with a pair of seventh-place finishes at the Adelphi Invitational.
Top performers

Freshman Ryan Steinberg paced the men's team and finished 40th in the 8k race with a time of 28:32.20

Sophomore Ethan Humin (29:24.70) took 53rd place and graduate student Patrick Wuss (29:32.00) finished in 55th

The women's top performer was junior Gianna Dickson, who placed 22nd overall with a 5k time of 20:49.10 with senior Marissa Degni just behind her at 21:35.40 to finish 31st

Junior Emily Medina (27:00.70) and junior Joy Witzke (27:04.60) rounded out the women's top finishers in 47th and 48th places, respectively

The men collected 230 points and trailed sixth-place USMMA by 81 points

The women's team's score of 204 points was just 21 points off of 6th place finisher Queens College (DII)

The Golden Eagles were the second-best NCAA Division III teams in the women's race where the men's were third.
