Lopez and Crowley Headline Cross Country All-Conference Selections

Milton. NY| The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's cross country team finished second with the women placing sixth at the 2023 Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday with five Golden Eagles named to All-Conference teams. Graduate student Matt Lopez and head coach Jim Crowley were named Runner and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Additionally, freshman Ryan Steinberg joined Lopez on the first-team with sophomore Jimmy Mintel landing on the second-team. On the women's side, junior Gianna Dickson and senior Marissa Degni were both first-team selections.

Lopez, a four-time All-Conference selection, was the overall men's top finisher with an 8k time of 27:28.6 claiming his third first-place finish of the season. All-Conference first-timers, Steinberg placed seventh overall with a time of 30:00.0 and Mintel rounded out SJLI's top three finishing with a time of 31:07.6.

For the women, Dickson picks up her third first-team nod after leading the SJLI women with a 6k time of 26:22.3 and a second-place overall finish. Degni lands on the first-team for the second time in her career taking home fourth-place and turning in a time of 27:13.2.

For the second straight year, Crowley was named Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, November 4, when they compete at the ECAC Championships at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome.
