Eagles Clawed by Panthers in Third Straight Loss

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's women's basketball (9-8, 3-3 SKY) team fell to Old Westbury (9-6, 4-2 SKY), 75-53, as the Panthers move into a second place tie with Farmingdale State in the Skyline Conference and the Golden Eagles drop into third.  The loss was the third straight for SJC and their second consecutive Skyline defeat, following Wednesday night's game with Farmingdale.

Laura Cohen (Smithtown, N.Y. /Smithtown East) led the Eagles with 17 points.  Amanda Bender (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) scored 14 points and Danielle Hamlin (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) had 10.  Ashley Larrea (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) led the team on the boards with nine rebounds.

St. Joseph's struggled from the field as they shot 27.3% for the game and were outrebounded 58-39.  They trailed at the half, 40-25, and were never able to recover from the deficit.

Old Westbury was led by DeAndra Scott with 22 points.  Clarissa Gallagher (12) and Raven Pentz (11) were also in double figures.  Antoinette Jolly had a game-high 13 rebounds.

Up next for SJC is a Skyline road game at NYU-Polytechnic this coming Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  They will then return home for another Skyline contest against Mount Saint Mary on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Danzi Athletic Center.
