Old Westbury, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team suffered a double-header sweep against Skyline Conference rival SUNY Old Westbury, 9-2 and 4-0, at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (8-4, 2-2 Skyline) struggled offensively all afternoon, as Old Westbury (13-6, 2-0 Skyline) held St. Joseph's to just nine hits and one extra base hit in the two games.

Game 1

The Golden Eagles took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first after an RBI single by Brendan Sullivan that scored Nick Girardi.

The Panthers quickly answered back to take a 2-1 lead after scoring two runs in the second on an RBI double by Tyler Roberts and an RBI single by Jesse Russo.

SUNY Old Westbury piled on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth with Russo's triple that scored both Tyler Roberts and Joey Walsh. Russo's triple was followed up by a Zeigen single that plated Russo.

An RBI single by Ryan Walsh in the top of the seventh helped the Golden Eagles close their deficit to 9-2 but Jeremy Charles would go the distance for the Panthers and ending the game by getting James Nakashian to ground out.

Charles recorded the win for the Panthers, as he allowed two runs over nine innings and stricking out 10 batters.

Game 2

In the second game, the Panthers would put a run on the board in their half of the opening frame.

Old Westbury had two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the second; Tommy Ziegen delivered with a single through the left side that plated two runs.

Ziegen would plate across the fourth run of the game to take a 4-0 advantage over the Golden Eagles.

Daniel Aguilo would get into a rhythm as he retired 10 consecutive batters, and sat down 16 out of the 18 final batters he faced.

The Golden Eagles will play host to Kean University on Tuesday, March 29 at Gregg Alfano Field in Patchogue, NY. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM. Live Stats are available here.
