Baseball Sweeps Mount St. Vincent on Senior Day

 Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's Colelge (L.I.) swept the College of Mount St. Vincent Dolphins, 7-1, 7-0,  in a Skyline Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Gregg Alfano Field. The Golden Eagles move up to 16-10 (9-5 Skyline) as the Dolphins skid down to 5-19 (3-9 Skyline) on the year.

Game 1
Anthony Bonilla started the game by hitting a fly ball to the right fielder, who misplayed the ball, as Bonilla hustled to third base safely, Mike Griffo would then take a fast ball and hit it right back up the middle to drive in the first run of the game.
 

In the bottom of the second, with runners in scoring position, Bonilla singled to drive in both Ryan Walsh and Joe Lynn to take a 3-0 advantage over the Dolphins.

The Golden Eagles would tack on another run in the bottom of the six when Walsh singled to right field to drive in Brendan Sullivan for the 4-0 lead.
In the top of the seventh, Mount St. Vincent scored its first run of the game after Craig Weber singled to Walsh.
 
Bob Keating came up to the plate, in the bottom of the seventh, with runners on first and second and double to right field to increase St. Joseph's lead 6-1. Dan Campanelli gave the Golden Eagles another insurance run with a sacrifice fly to keep the hosts ahead 7-1.
 
Ryan Aloise earned his fifth win of the season tossing six innings allowing zero run on three hits and striking out six batters. Josh Outsen received the save in his three innings of work, striking out six batters and allowing one run.
 

Game 2

Bonilla started the second game with a leadoff hit to the short stop, after a wild throw by the pitcher, Sullivan came up to bat with the bases loaded to drive in Bonilla and Nick Girardi with a two-run single. Joe Lynn reached on bases after an error by the pitcher to take a 3-0 lead.

After two silent innings the Golden Eagles' bat came back to life with James Terry hitting a single to the center fielder, Walsh would then deliver the long ball with a two-run homer to take a 5-0 lead.
 
Steve Szobesky took home the win, tossing four scoreless innings and striking out four batters.
 
Brendan Sullivan went two-for-three driving in two runs in the game.
St. Joseph's had runners on scoring position once more for Calabrese who singled right back up the middle driving in an addition two runs for the 7-0 advantage.
The Dolphins got a run across the board, in the top of the six, after a wild pitch to cut their deficit by six (7-1).
Mount St. Vincent's would be held scoreless in the seventh, taking a 7-1 loss to the host. 
 
The Golden Eagles will host the City College of New York on Tuesday, April 26 at Gregg Alfano Field. First pitch is slated for 6:00 PM.
