Baseball Drops Non-Conference Game To Kean 5-0

Written by Joshua Soto (SJC-LI Sports Information)

Union, NJ | The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team dropped its last game of the regular season as Golden Eagles could not recorded a hit in the 5-0 loss to Kean University in a non-conference matchup on early Thursday afternoon. The Golden Eagles now fall to 24-11 on the year as Kean improve its record

The Cougars scored the first two runs in the home half of the fourth inning as Ryan Reitmeyer singled through the left side scoring both Andy Lopez and Sal Taormina.

In the bottom of the seventh inning Ryan Kelley came up to bat for Kean and doubled to left center to score Shayne Fontana for the 3-0 lead over SJC.

Kean would tack on two more insurance runs, one of which would come from a suicide squeeze play from Reitmeyer. Fontana added to the lead with a triple to right center field for the 5-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles could not get their offense going as they only had one baserunner throughout the game.

Brandon Lubrano would be charged with the loss tossing 4.1 innings and allowing six hits and two runs.

The Golden Eagles now await their next opponent at the NCAA Regional Tournament, which will begin on Wednesday May 18.
