Iavarone Earns Skyline First-Team Selection

Written by Joshua Soto (SJC-LI Sports Information)

New York, NY| Sophomore Andrea Iavarone of the St. Joseph's College (L.I) women's basketball team has been selected to the Skyline All-Conference First-Team for the 2015-16 season, as announced by the conference on Friday Morning.

For Iavarone, it's her second All-Conference selection in as many years, having appeared on the Second-Team as a freshman last season.

The Miller Place, NY native finished the season third in the Skyline in scoring (17.4 PPG) and first in rebounds (12.2 RPG), and was among the nation's best in offensive rebounds-per-game (5.0, 7th), total rebounds (305, 17th) rebounds-per-game (20th). Additionally, Iavarone's 17 double-doubles were good for ninth in the country.

On February 17, Iavarone tallied a career-best 28 points in a 69-61 victory over Yeshiva University to break the program's single-season points record, and in the following contest, a defeat to Mt. St. Mary, Iavarone's 12 boards made her the program's single-season leader in rebounds. The forward wraps the season establishing new records of 436 points and 305 rebounds.

Iavarone's First-Team selection comes on the heels of a campaign that saw her receive 11 Skyline Weekly Honor Roll nods and a conference Co-Player of the Week honor on Nov. 16. Additionally, Iavarone was selected to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Divisions II-III Weekly Honorable Mention on January 19 and February 2.
