Throggs Neck, NY| Christina Gagliardi scored two goals as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team topped Maritime College 4-0 in Skyline Conference action at Reinhart Field on early Saturday afternoon. First-year head coach Salma Tarik earns her first career victory as the Golden Eagles improve to 1-4 (1-0 Skyline), while the Privateers fall to 3-5 (1-1 Skyline).

In the first half that saw the guests outshoot the hosts 19-1, the Golden Eagles notched the first goal of the match, when Mackenzie Nyitray, streaking down the left, opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. The Golden Eagles sought another opportunity to score in the 27th minute, when Gagliardi sent a shot from the right wing but it would hit the woodwork, just missing the second goal of the game.

Juliana Cintron-Leonardo, who made her first career start, made just one save in the first half, while her counterpart, Cammie Havens, made nine.

The Golden Eagles would begin the second half, the way they started the first, attacking the Privateer's defense and registering four shots in a five-minute span. Kate Condron would score her first goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 54th minute to double SJC's lead. Four minutes later, Mackenzie Nyitray played a searching ball to Gagliardi, who blew it past Havens for her second goal of the season to give the Golden Eagles the 3-0 lead.

Gagliardi would tack on an insurance goal in the 84th minute courtesy of a converted penalty to cap of the scoring 4-0.

Cintron-Leonardo would earn the shutout and her first collegiate win as she turned away just one shot in the contest.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, September 20, when they welcome Yeshiva University to Danzi Stadium for a Skyline Conference showdown. Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM. Follow live stats here.
