Women's Soccer Takes Down Old Westbury, 2-0

Old Westbury, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Skyline Conference rival  SUNY Old Westbury on Wednesday afternoon at Panthers Stadium and improves to 3-6 (3-1 Skyline) on the season. The Panthers fall to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

An exciting first half yielded 15 shots split 10-5 in favor of the Golden Eagles, and they would be the side to tally the game's first match. Just 14 minutes into the game freshman Christina Gagliardi dispossessed the Panthers at the top and beat the goalkeeper to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0. The tally was the fourth goal of the season to lead the team in goals.

Kristin Carroll, who made her season debut, wasted no time getting on the board in the 42nd minute, when she blasted a shot past Jessica Tuckruskye, following a Josseline Sorto throw-in to double SJC's lead 2-0.

Old Westbury was able to limit the Golden Eagles to three shots in the second frame as the Panthers registered two. Tuckruskye made seven saves in the contest compared to Sam Wedderburn's four saves, en route to her first collegiate win and clean sheet of her career.

The Panthers tallied seven shots to St. Joseph's 13 on the afternoon, and the Golden Eagles held the advantage in corners (3-2).
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 1 when they host Purchase College as they will support "Kicks for Cancer" during Saturday's contest. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM. Live stats will be available here.
