Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime, 2-1

Patchogue, NY| Farmingdale State needed extra time to defeat the St. Joseph's College women's soccer team 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles slide to 5-6 on the season with a 3-2 conference mark. The Rams improve to 12-3-1 on the season, 6-0 Skyline.

The Golden Eagles opened the scoring when Christina Gagliardi took a long pass from Gianna Castilletti, beat a Farmingdale defender and blasted a shot to the upper right corner of the net in the 13th minute. Later in the half, the Rams got on the board when Allison Khare sent in a cross from the near corner into Tara Lyons who found the back of the net to send the teams into the break tied at one.

Despite being outshot 13-2 in the second half, the St. Joseph's defense and seven saves made by keeper Juliana Cintron-Leonardo kept the score even at one and sent the game into overtime.

The Rams took advantage of their 11th corner kick of the afternoon when Meagan Murdocco sent the ball into the box and finding the head of Allison Khare and ending the game in the 98th minute.

Cintron-Leonardo finished with 10 saves on the day with FSU's Daniella Ford turning away three shots.

The Golden Eagles return to Danzi Stadium when they host SUNY Purchase on Tuesday, October 16. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
