Gagliardi's Hat-Trick Sends Women's Soccer to Semifinals

Patchogue, NY| Junior Christina Gagliardi scored three times to guide the St. Joseph's College women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over the College of Mt. St. Vincent in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championships.

The Golden Eagles improve to 10-6-0 overall and the Dolphins end their season at 5-10-1.

Gagliardi opened the scoring in the eighth minute when she took the ball down the right side of the field and blasted a shot to the lower left corner for a 1-0 SJC lead. Later in the half, junior Karissa Rutigliano sent in a free kick and found junior Shannon Condron who put in the lower left corner to extend the lead to 2-0.

Gagliardi recorded her second goal of the day in the 23rd minute when she took a feed from sophomore Carly Credidio and beat the CMSV defender and found the back of the net to send the Golden Eagles into the break leading 3-0.

Gagliardi's third goal came early in the second half when she took a through ball from freshman Amanda Fabris and sent it to the lower left corner to bring the game to its final 4-0.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Dolphins 21-7 and held a 6-2 corner kick advantage.

St. Joseph's advances to face second-seeded Mt. St. Mary on the road on Wednesday, October 31 at 4:00 pm.
