Women’s Swimming Dismisses Queens, John Jay on Saturday

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team defeated Queens College, 142-44, and John Jay, 135-59, in a non-conference double-duel meet inside the Danzi Center pool on Saturday afternoon.

The meet's highlight came in the final event, when the 200 freestyle relay team of Meghan Skakandi, Marisa Tutone, Nicole Orellana, and Alison Cabanillas set a new program record with a time of 1:50.19 and a first-place finish. 

Julianna Kohlus posted SJC's first win of the afternoon when she finished the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:52.23.

Tutone (2:15.81) won the 200 yard free, and Orellana (28.15) and Skakandi (28.30) finished first and second in the 50 yard free.

Other first-places finishes came via Cabanillas (200 yard IM), Skakandi (100 yard fly), Tutone (100 yard back), and Jaclyn Kanaley (100 yard breaststroke). 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, November 9, when they visit Purchase College for a Skyline double-duel with the Panthers and SUNY Maritime.
