Women’s Swimming Splits Friday’s Double-Duel

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team split a double-duel meet inside the Danzi Center on Friday evening with a 120-40 win over Queens College and a 141-43 Skyline Conference defeat to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. 

Highlights from the meet included Marisa Tutone's second-place finish in the 200 yard backstroke (2:28.21), which was four seconds short of first-place Annie Hood of USMMA.

Alison Cabanillas took second in the 500 yard freestyle (5:54.63), and Jaclyn Kanaley was second in the 200 yard breaststroke (3:01.84). 

Tutone (27.17) and Meghan Skakandi (2:32.10) finished third in the 50 yard freestyle and the 200 yard IM, respectively. 

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Skakandi, Tutone, Cabanillas, and Nicole Orellana posted a time of 1:50.91 and placed second.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, December 3, when they participate in the ECAC Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
