Women's Swimming Finishes 3rd at Skyline Championships

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team finished third in a field of six teams at the 2022 Skyline Conference Swimming Championships held at SUNY Purchase on January 22 and 23.

The Golden Eagles posted a two-day score of 186, which was 20 fewer than second-place Sarah Lawrence. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy placed first with 875 points. 

SJC turned in several third-place finishes including in the 200 yard medley relay. The foursome of Marisa Tutone, Meghan Skakandi, Julianna Kohlus, and Nicole Orellana posted a time of 1:59.43, fewer than six seconds off first-place USMMA.

Skakandi took third in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:14.56) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:41.37) and was a part of the 400 yard freestyle relay team--along with Tutone, Orellana, and Alison Cabanillas--that also finished third (4:02.94).

Tutone was third in the 50 yard freestyle (26.14) and placed fourth in the 100 yard backstroke (1:04.46) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:23.05). 

Cabanillas took fifth in the 1,000 yard freestyle (11:59.24).
