Women’s Swimming Topples Purchase and Maritime on Tuesday

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming defeated SUNY Purchase (108-59) and SUNY Maritime (95-62) in a Skyline Conference double-duel on Tuesday afternoon. 

Alison Cabanillas posted SJC's first first-place finish of the evening in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:15.23.

Meghan Skakandi took first place in the 200 yard freestyle (2:21.92) and Marisa Tutone (26.67) and Jaclyn Kanaley (28.82) went first and second in the 50 yard free.

Julianna Kohlus won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.79, and Cabanillas secured her second victory in the 500 yard free (5:59.53). 

SJC wrapped up the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The foursome of Tutone, Skakandi, Cabanillas, and Nicole Orellana posted a time of 1:51.39. 

The Golden Eagles, who have beaten all seven teams they've competed against so far this season, return to action on Saturday, November 13, when they host Hunter College for a non-conference meet at 1:00 pm.
