Women's Tennis Downs Mount St. Mary, 6-3

Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over Skyline Conference rival Mount St. Mary on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles improve to 5-2 (2-1 Skyline) on the year, as the Knights slide to 4-4 (1-2 Skyline). 

The tandem of Alana Caporale and Lindsey Charrier got the Golden Eagles started winning the first point of the match defeating Antonietta Capone and Charlotte Pascual, 8-2. The third doubles match-up featured Caroline Mandaro and Nora Burnett, who doubled SJC's lead (2-0) winning their match 8-5 over Emily Quinn and Miyanna Vernon. SJC earned the doubles sweep with Amanda Post and Victoria Panicola winning their match 9-7.

Charrier earned the fourth point taking down Vernon in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 before Quinn earned the first point for MSMC defeating Mandora 6-4, 6-2.

Michelle Carnovale helped the Knights cut its deficit within two (4-2) sending the second-set of the number one singles court into a (7-3) tie-breaking win.
Burnett sealed the victory for the Golden Eagles winning her match in the third court 6-4, 6-1.  

The Golden Eagles will continue conference play and host Purchase St.  on Tuesday, October 3 at 5 PM.
