Cross Country Opens 2022 Season at Adelphi Invitational
When and Where: September 2, 2022 – Bethpage State Park (Farmingdale, NY)
The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams opened the 2022 season with fifth- and seventh-place finishes, respectively, at the Adelphi Invitiaional.
Top performers
- Senior Matt Lopez of the men's team finished seventh in the 8k race with a time of 27:07.90
- Senior Patrick Wuss (30:37.90) took 45th place and sophomore Anthony Flaccomio (31:53.70) finished in 52nd
- The women's top performer was reigning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year Gianna Dickson, who place 15th with a 5k time of 22:01.30
- Senior Emily Venturi (22:40.10) and graduate Alex Ehrhart (22:53.90) rounded out the women's top five in 21st and 25th places, respectively
How it happened
- The men collected 215 points and trailed sixth-place Georgian Court by 75 points
- The women's team's score of 137 points was eight more than fourth-place East Stroudsburg
Notes
- Both the men and women were the second-best NCAA Division III teams in their respective races. USMMA finished ahead in both the 5k and 8k events
- East Stroudsburg's men (27 points) and Adelphi's women (52 points) were the winners on the day
