Women's Cross Country Wins ECAC Championship, Men Place 5th

Result

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's cross country team won its third-straight ECAC Championship on Saturday afternoon. The men placed fifth in the 8k race.

Top performers
  • Gianna Dickson led the SJNY women with a 6k time of 26:16.4 and a second-place finish
  • Emily Venturi (26:32.0) was fourth and Marissa Degni took eighth (27:17.7)
  • Alex Ehrhart finished fifth with a time of 28:12.9
  • The men's top finisher was Patrick Wuss, who finished 16th with an 8k time of 29:48.5
  • Jimmy Mintel (31:11.1) and Anthony Flaccomio (31:14.4) finished 23rd and 24th, respectively
How it happened
  • The women amassed 41 points and beat out second-place SUNY Martime by six points
  • The men finished with a team score of 128, trailing fourth-place SUNY Maritime by two points and first-place Vassar by 76 points

  • Dickson, Venturi, Degni, and Ehrhart all earned All-ECAC selections for their performances
  • The women tied SUNY Maritime for second place at the Skyline Championships two weeks ago. On Saturday, they beat the Privateers by six points
  • The women win their third-straight ECAC title having won in 2019, 2021, and now 2022. The Championships were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic
