Cross Country Hosts SJNY Invitational on Saturday

Result

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's and men's cross counrty teams placed third and second, respectively, at the SJNY Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers

• The women were powered by Marissa Degni, who placed seventh with a 5k time of 20:52.44
• Gianna Dickson was 11th (21:12.22) and Emily Venturi finished in 14th (21:46.16)
• Matt Lopez finished second in the men's 8k race with a time of 27:58.08
• Jimmy Mintel took 25th (30:16.11) and Patrick Wuss placed 28th (30:20.37)

How it happened

• The women's posted a team score of 93, 36 points more than second-place St. Thomas Aquinas
• The men collected 104 points and were bested only by St. Thomas Aquinas (84)

Notes

• Both the women and the men were the best-placing Division III and Skyline Conference teams at the meet
• Six Skyline schools--including SJNY--competed at the event
• Degni and Lopez were the best Division III runners in their respective races. Lopez beat out all Division II runners as well
