Four Golden Eagles Named All-Region

Patchogue, NY| Four members of the St. Joseph's University (L.I.) baseball team earned All-Region accolades when the publications released their end-of-season awards on Tuesday morning. 

Joe Sanguedolce was the only Golden Eagle to be recognized by both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). The junior picked up third-team honors from both organizations.

Senior Phil Krpata was named to the ABCA third team while senior Ryan Decoursey and sophomore Dante Morabito earned D3baseball.com third-team selections.

Sanguedolce finished second on the team this year in hits (51) and runs scored (38). The second baseman recorded a .347 batting average and a .476 slugging percentage, along with seven doubles, four home runs, 28 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases. The Manorville, NY native received Skyline All-Conference First Team honors for his efforts.

Krpata led the Skyline Conference and broke the SJLI program record in total runs scored (55) and stolen bases (47). The outfielder led the Golden Eagles with 53 hits and six home runs which was good for a .349 batting average and a .520 slugging percentage. The Farmingdale, NY native was named to Skyline All-Conference First Team and secured Most Outstanding Player of the Skyline Conference Championship tournament.

Decoursey led the Golden Eagles in batting average (.372) and slugging percentage (.595). The shortstop was amongst the best on the team in RBIs (32), runs (33), home runs (4), and hits (45). The Centereach, NY native garnered Skyline All-Conference Second Team honors this year.

Morabito finished with a team-leading 2.89 ERA across 43.2 innings pitched with 33 strikeouts. The sophomore had 16 appearances while starting two games this season, amassing a 1-0 record, and finished with three saves. The Medford, NY native was named to the Skyline All-Conference first team.
