Caputo and Krpata Earn ECAC Recognition

DANBURY, Conn. – Senior Phil Krpata and head coach Tom Caputo of the St. Joseph's University (L.I.) baseball team were recognized when the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2023 Division III Baseball All-ECAC Team and major award winners on Wednesday afternoon.

Krpata picked up his second All-Region honor of the season after leading the Skyline Conference and broke the SJLI program record in total runs scored (55) and stolen bases (47). The outfielder paced the Golden Eagles with 53 hits and six home runs which was good for a .349 batting average and a .520 slugging percentage. The Farmingdale, NY native was named to Skyline All-Conference First Team and secured Most Outstanding Player of the Skyline Conference Championship tournament.

In his first season at the helm, head coach Tom Caputo collects his second Coach of the Year distinction after guiding his squad to a record-breaking 30 wins this season.  The Golden Eagles claimed back-to-back Skyline Conference regular season and championship titles while advancing to the NCAA Div. III New York State Regional.

ABOUT THE ECAC
The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-two-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II, and III. The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments, and other competitions throughout the Northeast. The ECAC's esports platform is growing and now totals more than sixty colleges and universities and is expanding the geographic footprint for the conference nationally. The ECAC is also sponsoring competitions and leagues involving other varsity and club sports that do not fall under the umbrella of the NCAA.
