Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of William Paterson University on Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup at Danzi Stadium. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 6-10-1 on the season, while their NJAC opponents improve to 5-8-2.

The Pioneers established themselves early in the match, recording five shots in the first 14 minutes before taking the lead in the 16th minute, when Musa Sackoon took a through ball from Zach Perez that sprung him one-on-one with SJC keeper Avery Gomez, who Sackoon beat through the legs.

Outshot 14-0 in the first half, the Golden Eagles entered halftime down 1-0, but failed to turn the tide in the second half. Fabian Allen's right-footed finished on the right wing in the 71st minute doubled the Pioneers lead, and Dante Petrocelli's 88th minute tally wrapped the scoring.

Gomez's 10 saves were a season-best in a match that saw his side out-shot 28-2. Despite being out-possessed and out-shot, the Golden Eagle defense did well to keep enemy attackers to the outside and turn chances away.

St. Joseph's returns to action on Friday, October 23 when they welcome John Jay College to the Danzi Center for senior day. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM, but be sure to join us beforehand as we celebrate the SJC careers of our seniors. Live stats will also be available here.
