Heredia, O’Sullivan and Busto Earn Skyline All-Conference Honors

Written by Andrew Capitelli (SJC-LI Sports Information)

New York, NY| Juniors Justin Heredia and Brian O'Sullivan earned First-Team accolades and sophomore Justin Busto appeared on the Second-Team as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team collected a trio of end-of-season Skyline Conference awards, which were announced on the conference website on Monday morning.

For Heredia, it's his second All-Conference selection in as many years, having appeared on the Second-Team last season. In 2015, the midfielder led the team with shots (47) and shots on goal (21) and finished second in both goals (6) and points (15). Heredia tallied his only multiple-goal game of the season on October 13, when he scored twice in a 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence. The Patchogue, NY native also tallied the game-winner in the 4-1 win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on October 7.

O'Sullivan is a first-time All-Skyline Team member following a season in which he had been the Golden Eagles most consistent player. The defender appeared in all 20 matches this season, recording one goal and adding two assists for four points. Acting as the team's backline general, O'Sullivan—and his partner in central defense, Cody Kull—backstopped a St. Joseph's side that only allowed 10 goals-against in conference play this season, which was second behind only Sage (4).

In his second season with the Golden Eagles, Busto established himself as goal-scoring threat potting seven goals, which was a team-high. The forward also led the team in points (17) and ranked second in shots on goal (18). The Hauppauge, NY native's bets outing of the season came in a 4-1 win at SJC-Brooklyn on October 7, when he recorded the first hat trick of his career.
