Patchogue, NY| Sophomore Rayneri Ruiz scored the game-winner in the 98th minute as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team earned a 2-1 overtime victory over Skyline Conference rival SUNY Old Westbury at Danzi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

With the win the Golden Eagles--who are now unbeaten in their previous four games--improve to 3-5-1 on the year and move into second place in the Skyline standings with a 3-0-1 conference mark. The Panthers slip to 4-3-2 (1-1-1 Skyline) with the loss.

SJC opened the scoring in the 31st minute when sophomore Damian Duda tallied for the second-straight game to ensure the hosts took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Old Westbury would outshoot the Golden Eagles in the second half, 7-5, and found a tying mark in the 66th minute via Jorey Gomez's unassisted goal.

With less than three minutes to play in the first overtime period, Old Westbury keeper Mike Warren parried an attempt off the foot of junior Kyle Conway, but Ruiz, surging into the box, pounced on the loose ball and finished off his team-leading fifth goal of the season to earn SJC a crucial 2-1 win.

Freshman keeper Steven Deng (3-2-1) recorded five saves in the win and has allowed just three goals in his last four matches. Old Westbury's Warren was credited with 11 saves.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 7 when they head up to Bronxville, NY for a Skyline Conference contest Sarah Lawrence at 7:00 pm.
