Brooklyn, NY| Sophomore Rayneri Ruiz scored twice as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six games with a 2-0 win over St. Joseph's College (Brkln) on the road on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Golden Eagles move to 5-5-1 on the season and remain atop the Skyline standings with a 5-0-1 conference mark. The Bears, now 1-10-1 on the year and 0-6 in conference play, sit at the bottom of the Skyline table.

After a scoreless first half, Ruiz extended his goal-scoring streak to four games when he directed home a corner kick by senior Robert Gomez in the 55th minute.

Three minutes later, the Bay Shore, NY native banged in an unassisted tally in the box to put the guests up 2-0.

Now with a team-best 10 tallies on the year, Ruiz has scored seven goals and 14 points in the last four matches.

SJC keeper Steven Deng was shown a straight red card in the 79th minute, but the Golden Eagles rode out their two-goal and advantage to clinch their third-straight win.

Before being sent off, Deng recorded three saves in a match that saw his side outshoot its opponent 19-8. Junior Lewis Meitz played the final 11:20 and was not tested in his collegiate debut.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 14 when they host conference rival SUNY Purchase at Danzi Stadium at 12:00 pm. Follow the action with live stats here.
