The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball claimed their fifth straight Skyline Conference win with a 3-0 sweep over SUNY Purchase on Thursday evening.

Top Performers

• Graduate student Jason Koehler paced the Golden Eagles with a perfect 9-for-9 performance at the net with a pair of blocks and an ace

• Senior Tyler Anderson converted all six of his attempts 

• Senior Will Loeven had a match-best five blocks with three kills

• Setter CJ Johnson dished 13 assists in his one set with freshman Dominic Ruggiero tossing 23 over sets two and three

• Purchase's Marcus Garguilo finished five kills and a game-best six digs. Idris Idris recorded 12 assists and four digs

How it happened

• The  Golden Eagles opened the match on a 12-1 run and would go on to take set one 25-5

• The Panthers managed to reach double digits in set two, but ultimately fell 25-14 for a 25-9 win in favor of the Golden Eagles clinched the 3-0 sweep

Notes

• St. Joseph's produced their second-highest hitting percentage, .432, as a team while holding Purchase to -.037

• Defensively, the Golden Eagles finished with 41 digs and seven total blocks  to the Panthers' 25 digs and one total block

Next up, the Golden Eagles will travel to Sarah Lawrence on Saturday, March 18 for a Skyline Conference tri-match and will face Ramapo College at 1:00 pm before taking on the Gryphons at 3:00 pm.
