St. Joseph's Lacrosse Gets Back on the Winning Track

Throggs Neck, N.Y.  - St. Joseph's lacrosse team (4-5, 4-1 SKY) picked up a big win over Skyline Conference-foe Maritime College (1-2, 0-1 SKY) picking up a 16-8 victory on the road.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the first half before Maritime scored the last five goals of the half leaving the tally 10-6 at halftime.  SJC scored the first three goals of the second half to take control again.

The Eagles once again showed depth as five different players scored the first five goals.  Karalyn Tetelman started off the action with a goal in the first minute of the game with a beautiful dodge from out front at 29:10.  Lisa Terry and Caitlynn Webber hooked up on the next goal, with Terry putting it in the cage off a nice feed.  After Kristen Saporito scored for Maritime, St. Joseph's went on an 8-0 tear started by Webber at 20:58. 

Michele Gulino and Grace Ann Fallon delivered on solo efforts, before Tetelman scored her second goal from Margot Howard at 14:50.  Jackie Myers got in the scoring column at 13:25 off a nice pass from Cait Halloran and then Terry scored her second goal of the game on a free position shot at 8:11.  Alyssa Cordano got in the mix with a nifty goal at 7:20.  Less than a minute later, Terry again notched a free position shot to give St. Joseph's a 10-1 lead, their largest margin of the game. Maritime scored three free position shots in the last six minutes of the half, led by Kristen Saporito's two goals, and then single goals by Tessa Jardine (5:34), Megan White (3:58) and Catherine Brady (1:37).

St. Joseph's switched goalies at halftime, giving Colleen Fitzsimons some much needed work. They would outshoot Maritime 19-4 in the second half.led by Lisa Terry's four goals (two assisted by Jackie Myers), while Myers would add her second goal of the contest and Tetelman her third.  Saporito scored Maritime's only goals in the second half, finishing with five goals and an assist for the night. 

SJC's Terry ended up with seven goals in the game, leading seven different goal scorers for the visitors - Tetelman (3G), Myers (2G, 2A), Webber (1G,2A) and Gulino, Fallon, Cordano each with one. Margot Howard and Cait Halloran both recorded assists. Webber had a big night with eight draw controls, and Nicole Lyman added three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Amanda D'Onofrio led the Eagles with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. St. Joseph's streak of five consecutive conference games is over and they now await a non-conference game with Worcester State on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the new St. Joseph's Outdoor Athletic Complex.
