Eagles Clinch Third Place with Win Over Dolphins

Yonkers, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's women's soccer team (11-6-3, 5-2-1 Skyline) clinched the third seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament with a 4-0 win over Mount Saint Vincent (7-8, 2-6 Skyline). With the win the women locked up a first round matchup against the, sixth seeded, Panthers of Purchase (7-8, 4-4 Skyline).

St. Joseph's was led by the Skyline Rookie of the Week, Jessica Cordano (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot). who netted two goals.  The first came within the first six minutes of the game off a feed from the far right post by junior Kathleen Borrelli (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford). The next came off a rebound from a save by the keeper nearly twenty minutes later.

Freshman Jamianne Eden (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) scored from the right post on a cross from captain Michelle Barclay (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North).  Barclay later assisted on Cordano's second goal.  Sarah Hansen (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) scored her first goal of the year after dealing with a knee injury early this season.

Junior Kayla Flowers (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) recorded another shutout with six saves. Flowers leads the conference with 10 shutouts this season and her save percentage of 81.6 is third best.

The Lady Eagles will now face a Purchase team that defeated them earlier in the season, 1-0.  St. Joseph's controlled the pace of that game, but couldn't find the back of the net. On Saturday, October 27th, the Golden Eagles will be looking for revenge on their home turf in the first round of the Skyline Tournament.
