Patchogue, NY| Behind strong performances by senior Courtney Bocchieri the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team defeated both Baruch (3-0) and New Jersey City (3-1) in a non-conference tri-match played inside the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

With the victories, the Golden Eagles improve to 5-13 on the year while the Bearcats move to 9-19 and the Gothic Knights to 11-11.

The Golden Eagles opened the afternoon with a commanding 25-9 victory in set one of their match with Baruch before winning the second set by the score of 25-20. Successive kills by Morgan Tiska and Dana Moeller with the score tied at 24 in the third set would clinch the 26-24 set and 3-0 match wins for the hosts.

Bocchieri and fellow senior Erin Kelly led SJC with seven kills in the match and were outdone only by Baruch's Akilah Meulens (9).

Senior Courtney WIckline collected a game-high 29 assists, and junior Claire Urizzo led all participants with 16 digs.

In a much tighter affair, the Golden Eagles took the first two sets by the scores of 25-20 and 25-16, but, with the chance for the three-game sweep, SJC fumbled a 19-18 lead in the third set en route to a 26-24 defeat. The Golden Eagles would rebound in the fourth set with a 25-18 win to clinch the 3-1 victory.

Wickline dished out a game-high 26 assists in the victory and sophomore Danielle Senecal, who leads SJC with 250 digs this season, was credited with a game-best 14 digs.
