Fort Myers, FL| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team suffered an 11-2 loss at the hands of Johns Hopkins University in a non-conference split-squad matchup early Sunday afternoon in Fort Myers, FL.
In a rematch of the 2016 NCAA Mideast Regional Tournament, where the Golden Eagles (2-2) eliminated the Blue Jays 3-0 almost a season ago, SJC struck first in the second inning taking advantage on a throwing error to push two runs across the board.
Johns Hopkins (8-2) responded back with a pair of runs in the third inning and tacked on a run in the fourth and fifth innings before exploding with a six-run four-hit sixth inning to jump ahead with the 10-2 lead.
Nick Mannarino kept JHU off the board in the seventh, yet the Blue Jays tacked on another run in the eighth to down SJC 11-2.
Outfielder Gehrig Montoro led the way with two hits for the Blue and Gold. Anthony Bonilla, Dylan Piscitelli, and Lou Doria each collected a hit as well.
