Outsen Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Nod

Patchogue, NY| Senior right-handed pitcher Josh Outsen of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team was named to the Academic All-District First-Team on Thursday, May 4 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Outsen becomes the first player in program history to earn the honor and advances to the national Academic All-America Ballot.
Outsen represents one of the three Skyline Conference student-athletes named to the all-district team from region three, which encompasses schools from New York.
An accounting major from Lindenhurst, NY, Outsen currently owns a 7-0 record with a 1.47 earned-run average through 49.0 innings pitched this season. In his eight starts, the senior struck out 48 batters and allowed just seven extra-base hits on the year. Outsen tossed a career-best three shutouts, and held opposing batters to a .194 batting average. The senior pitcher also struck out a career-high 14 batters in a 20-0 win over Yeshiva on March 26.
Outsen is a Skyline distinguished scholar, being named to the Skyline Academic Honor in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and is the program's first Academic All-District.
The top-seeded Golden Eagles enter the Skyline Conference Championship with a 24-12 record when they are set to take on Mount St. Mary on Saturday, May 6 at 11 AM. For more information about the 2017 Skyline Conference Baseball Championship click here.
