Baseball Suffers Skyline Sweep

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College baseball team dropped both ends of a Skyline Conference double header against SUNY Old Westbury at Gregg Alfano Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles slide to 8-9 on the season with a 2-4 conference mark. The Panthers improve to 7-9-1 overall, 4-2 Skyline.

OW-13, SJC-0

Seven different Panthers accounted for 15 hits en route to a 13-0 run rule shortened game one victory.

OW's John Condon went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored. Shaun Kaminski and Michael Borsch recorded three hits apiece and combined for five RBIs.

SJC's only two hits of the game came off the bat of Tyler Sanderson.

Old Westbury's Patrick Quinn earned the win allowing two hits with seven strikeouts on a complete game effort.

St. Joseph's starter Tim Woodford was touched up for four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and was tagged with the loss.

OW-4, SJC-1

Both sides pushed a run across in the first, and after three scoreless innings the visitors pulled ahead with a run in the top of the fifth.

The Panthers plated a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh to secure the 4-1 win.

SJC was outhit 11-5 in the second game with Gehrig Montoro finishing 2-for-3. Daniel Campanelli, Jesse Nakashian and Tyler Costa accounted for the other hits in the game.

OW's Christian Tessatore picked up the win going the distance allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts.

SJC's Kevin Czeczotka suffered the loss allowing three runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings of work.

The Golden Eagles return to Gregg Alfano Field on Monday, April 1 when they host Farmingdale St. College at 4:00 pm.
