Men’s Soccer Tops Washington Adventist, 3-1

Patchogue, NY| Senior Cody Kull Scored twice as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer tea m edged Washington Adventist University, 3-1, in non-conference action at Danzi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The win is the third-straight for the Golden Eagles, who move to 5-7 (4-2 Skyline) on the year. The Shock, who play in the USCAA, slip to 4-6.

Kull would open the scoring in the eighth minute when he headed home a Robert Gomez corner from inside the box for his second goal of the season. In the 17th minute, Gomez played a short corner to Kyle Conway, who curled a shot around the keeper and into the back of the net to double the SJC lead (2-0).

After carrying a two-goal lead into the break, the Golden Eagles extended their lead to three in the 46th minute when a Brian O'Sullivan cross fell to the feet of Kull, who slotted a shot between the keeper's legs from inside the box for his second tally of the afternoon.

The Shock's Douglas Guevara would draw the game back to within two goals in the 73 minute, but it would be the final goal of the match, which ended 3-1.

SJC dominated play throughout the match outshooting the Shock 24-9 and generating more corners (12-1). Keeper Avery Gomez was forced to make just two saves.
