Softball Finishes Fifth in Skyline Preseason Poll

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team was selected to finish fifth in the Skyline Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, which was released on the conference website on Friday afternoon.

One year removed from missing out on a playoff berth due to a tiebreaker, the Golden Eagles enter the 2016 season under the tutelage of incoming head coach Lisa Jusino, who arrives from Briarcliffe College.

Five-time defending conference champion Farmingdale St. finished first in the voting, claiming 77 points and five first-place nods. Mount St. Mary slotted in at second with 75 points and four first-place votes, and Mount St. Vincent rounded out the top three with 61 points.

Edging SJC in fourth place was Sage with 58 tallies—nine more than the Golden Eagles who collected 49.

St. Joseph's kicks off its season on Wednesday, March 9, when it opens play in the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in N. Myrtle Beach, SC with a contest vs. Robert Morris-Springfield. The Golden Eagles open their Skyline Conference campaign on the road against St. Joseph's (Brkln) on Saturday, March 19. Live stats for all home matches can be found here.
