Patchogue, NY| After suffering a 5-0 defeat in game one, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team rallied in the sixth inning to take game two, 7-4, in a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Farmingdale State at SJC Softball Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the split, the Golden Eagles sit at 15-11 (7-5 Skyline) on the year while the Rams boast an 11-11 (10-2 Skyline) mark.

Game 1: FSC 5, SJC 0

Farmingdale's Lori Michalowski put the guests up 1-0 in the top of the first when her sac fly scored Meagan Anderson and later, in the top of the fourth, Christina Rayfield's two-run homer increased the Rams' advantage to three runs (3-0).

In the top of the fourth Michalowski would again score Anderson with an RBI single up the middle, and Rayfield would wrap the scoring in the top of the 7th with an RBI-single to right field (5-0).

Mallory McClafferty took the loss for the Golden Eagles despite striking out eight Farmingdale batters. Jaxie Collard pitched all seven innings for the guests and fanned three Golden Eagles.

Elizabeth Rohme (2-3) was the only SJC batter that recorded multiple hits.

Game 2: SJC 7, FSC 4

McClafferty opened the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI double to deep left field, and in the bottom of the second Madeline Sganga reached first on an error allowing Gabrielle Cinquemani to score to increase the SJC lead to two runs (2-0).

Cinquemani would double the Golden Eagles' lead (4-0) in the bottom of the third when she recorded her conference-leading seventh home run (2 RBI). Breanna Susa got one back for the Rams in the top of the fourth with an RBI single, and in the top of the fifth FSC posted three more runs to tie the game at four.

With the bases loaded for Lindsey Corriss in the bottom of the sixth, the senior scored all runners with a three-RBI triple to right center to lift the Golden Eagles to an eventual 7-4 victory.

McClafferty (6-3) struck out three and allowed three runs in 4.1 innings of work allowing Sandra Foster the opportunity to secure her first save of the season. Collard (13-7) fanned two and allowed seven hits.

Corriss powered the SJC offense with a 3-4, 3 RBI effort. Cinquemani (2-3, 2 RBI's, 2 runs) and McClafferty (2-3, 1 RBI, 1 run) also recorded multiple hits.

The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow, April 17 when they host Yeshiva University for a doubleheader on Senior Day. Help us honor our seniors, Mallory McClafferty, Megan Leun and Lindsey Corriss in between games. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 PM.
